The Magic of Mindfulness Practice

In the last nebulous moments of class, during the unhurried transition from Shavasana into collective close, I always invite a pause. This pause is a moment to actively seal in a memory, a memory of the Yoga experience or a memory of an experience of the Self. I always do the same.
Whether it’s a gentle flow, a meditative YIN or a breath practice class, we enter together, centering our practice around an elemental theme. While the sequence of poses or mantras is fixed, the conclusions vary fantastically.
This is the magic of mindfulness practice. The directions are the same, but the destinations are very different.
Mindfulness practice can be a mirror of our human experience in this way. We share common, fixed experiences throughout our lives and wind up with completely different perceptions and conclusions. Each week, I look to my Yoga practice to observe the mystery in myself and my fellow witnesses.
Our practice themes this year have included:
Loving Kindness
Beginner’s Mind
Action in Inaction
Restore & Rejuvenate
